What should I do if my water heater is leaking from the top?

Turn off the water and power, then call us. A leak from the top usually points to the cold/hot connections, the T&P relief valve, or the anode port. We repair and replace water heaters (including tankless) and can advise if it’s time to upgrade. Members of Lucky’s Comfort Club get priority service and a 10% discount.

Quick steps:

  • Turn the cold-water shutoff clockwise to stop flow.
  • Electric: switch off the breaker. Gas: set the gas control to off.
  • Catch drips with a bucket. Keep the area dry. Call a pro.

We help homeowners in San Rafael and Novato.
