How often do backflow preventer valves need to be replaced?

There’s no fixed replacement schedule for backflow preventer valves. They are replaced when they fail testing, leak, or are too worn or corroded to repair. A licensed plumber will evaluate the device and advise repair vs. replacement after inspection and testing. Your Water District may require an inspection and test. We serve homes in Novato and nearby cities.

Quick checks:

  • Test failure or repeated repairs
  • Continuous dripping or stuck shutoff valves
  • Visible cracks, corrosion, or freeze damage
  • Relief valve discharge under normal pressure
